Where portfolio templates fail the work

• The uniform grid. A wide interior and a tight beauty shot get cropped to the same square, so they carry the same weight. Your edit disappears into wallpaper.
• Gallery weight. Twenty full resolution files loading at once, with a lightbox library stacked on top. The first scroll stutters on a phone in a hotel lobby, which is where the link is usually opened.
• No rhythm. Image, text, image, text, forever. An editorial page needs a held silence, then a full bleed, then one small detail, then air.
• Captions treated as metadata. Client, role, year and photographer credit set in grey at 11 px below the fold. That is exactly what an art director scans for first.
• Hover as the whole idea. Titles that appear only on mouseover do not exist on a phone, and most of your reviewers arrive on a phone.
• One layout for two screens. The desktop grid is squeezed into 390 px and the portfolio arrives as a column of postage stamps.

• The portfolio Edition is one purpose carried out completely. An index, project pages driven by a CMS collection, a short about, and a contact page that actually sends.
• An Edition is a business site. Several page systems, more than one CMS collection, a journal, legal pages and a designed 404 rather than a browser error.
• Both ship the same craft. The same typographic system, the same slow motion, and desktop and mobile layouts drawn separately instead of reflowed. The portfolio Edition is smaller, never thinner.
• Both arrive the same way at release. A Framer remix link, a licence and a written guide. The file sits in your own Framer account and every element stays editable.
• Choose the portfolio Edition if the site exists so that someone looks at your work and then writes to you. Choose an Edition if the site also has to sell rooms, treatments or a service line.

Status and prices

How fast a launch really is

• The remix takes a minute. The link opens the template inside your own Framer account as an editable copy that belongs to you.
• Replacing the content is the real work. Two to four hours for a portfolio that is already selected, a full day if you are still deciding between forty images and twelve.
• Prepare the files first. Long edge around 2000 px, sRGB, sensible names. Framer serves the responsive sizes and modern formats from there.
• Typography and palette are already set. Both can be changed in one panel, though the layouts are drawn around the original scale and hold best at it.
• Publishing is the last ten minutes. A custom domain needs a paid Framer site plan, billed by Framer and not by Saint Ego Editions.
• The honest answer: a working site in one afternoon, a good one inside a week. The slow part is editing the work, not building the pages.
